- Clothing isn't a big deal, but you don't want to hear your jeans ripping or so while playing. Wear comfortable clothes where you can run in, jump, make big physical movements without having to go shopping for more clothes the next day. You get the idea.
- Learn how to interact with other basketball players, their signals, etc.
- Pass to other people more often. Don't try to run down the whole court by yourself and find that a better basketball player takes it from you. Pass to the people that haven't had the ball for a long time - they would appreciate it.
- Earn respect, make friends, and have people backing you up.
- Be patient!
- Have good shoes. Buy shoes that you feel comfortable moving in, not those firm ones that stop you moving your feet around. In shoe stores, try on the shoes - walk around in them. Jump up and down. Turn left and then turn right. You may think you seem awkward, people will respect you and look up at you for knowing how to choose the better shoes. If you feel that the shoes were too small but you liked the style, don't buy it. Ask for a bigger size and if the store doesn't have one, find another pair. You don't want shoes that hold you back when you play.
- Cut your toenails and fingernails! It can be a pain when your toes start hurting in the middle of a game because your nails had grown too long.
- Be hygienic! There's nothing worse than playing with another player whose armpit smells like a dump, whose shirt stinks as if it was damp and had been stuck in the mud, etc.
- Be friendly to every and all players - even when they're from the opposite team! It shows dignity. People will notice it sooner or later, you can be assured of that. If you're rude and swear, boss people around all the time - people will not enjoy playing with you.
- Eat right, eat more. Calories are being burnt rapidly when you play basketball - be healthy by replacing those calories or you can end up feeling sick and exhausted the next day.
- Drink lots of water.

- Be happy and confident. Don't be afraid of failure, instead, pay attention to them and learn from them! Don't waste time blaming yourself when you can improve your skills by playing basketball!
- Be competitive and don't be afraid to show your wild mane from the inside! Don't be competitive to a point where you would get mad if you lose a game though. Remain cool. Don't be a moron. You can change your attitude towards things!
- Be social - NEVER yell at your teammates. What better are you? Arrogance is never attractive. Don't go over the edge.
